Joyce Larson, Conductor

Joyce Larson is in her twelfth year as Music Director of St. John’s Music Series’ annual Messiah performances and spring concerts. She has conducted Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass and Solemn Vespers; Dvorak’s Mass in D, Charpentier’s Te Deum, Faure’s Requiem, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, as well as shorter works by Bach, Haydn and Schubert. Ms. Larson received her B.S. in Music Education from Northern State University (Aberdeen, SD) and her M.M. degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She continues to study conducting and organ with Dr. Peter Hendrickson, yet what has also been instrumental in her training has been singing with and observing other conductors. Since 2000, Ms. Larson is serving as Music Director and Organist at St. John's Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. She has served as music director and organist in Lutheran churches in Brooklyn Park, MN and Pierre, SD and has conducted the Pierre/Ft. Pierre Community Chorus.
