Ron Hasselmann, trumpet

Ron Hasselmann is the retired Associate Principal Trumpet and Associate
Personnel Manager for the Minnesota Orchestra. He holds Bachelors and
Masters of Music degrees from Northwestern University in Chicago. He
played principal trumpet with the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra of
Europe and later for Chicago’s Lyric Opera Orchestra. In addition, he
has performed solos throughout the US, Europe, Scandinavia and Guatemala.
In 1985 and 1986 he performed in an All Star Quintet with principal
players from the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia and Boston
Orchestras at the Hidden Valley Master Festival in Carmel Valley,
California. In 1996 he conducted auditions for the newly formed China
National Symphony Orchestra in Beijing. He was a member of the faculties
of St. Olaf College from 1963-1981, and the University of Minnesota from
1970-1982.
He continues enjoying many musical activities by playing and touring
with Keith Brion’s New Sousa Band, the Lake Wobegon Brass Band, Senior
Synod Band
and
teaching.
